The Imperial Windy City Court of the Prairie State Empire, Inc. NFP is an IRS recognized non- profit entity under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code and a chapter of the International Court System founded by José Sarria in San Francisco in 1965. There are presently 72 “Courts” throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The purposes of our organization are to sponsor, support, and promote charitable and educational programs and efforts in the community; to promote and recognize community leaders; and to promote harmony among the people in the community. Benefiting local 501(c)(3) organizations, WCE is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization chartered by the State of Illinois by Number 6169-841-8 on June 20, 2001.
Our work is serving our community, but that work is ever-changing since the direction of our organization is steered by our membership who live and work in the communities we serve.
We support LGBTQ+ individuals and allies in their efforts to reach their educational goals.
We help community non-profits who need financial support for their ongoing operations as they serve the vulnerable, the fighting, the abused, and the forgotten.
We continue to expand our community through outreach, keeping the ideals of diversity and inclusivity foremost in our minds and actions.
Did you know?
While we have been in operation for 17+ years, this is currently Empire Reign 15, because for the first 4 years, we were a barony, not an empire.
The monarchy plays a central role in our organization and how we present ourselves to the public.
Our monarchs serve for one year terms known as their “reign.” During their reign, they chair the fundraising responsibilities of the organization. At the end of the year we celebrate their accomplishments while introducing the new monarchs at Coronation.
As new monarchs begin their reign, they kick it off with an event known as Investiture. This is where they announce those who will serve as part of their line.
